National Conference on Injecting Drug Use
This was attended by steering group members Matt & Fran, on 26th & 27th October 2009, in Glasgow. This 2 day conference covered many subjects relating to injecting drug use, including, but not limited to, harm reduction, problems relating to the injection of crack cocaine, legal highs, DVT, blood borne viruses, naloxone treatment, provision of foil in needle exchanges, steroid injectors & more. There was far too much to report here in full, therefore a full report, compiled by Fran & Matt, will soon be made available to anyone who wants to read it, & will also be available here, on the website, in due course. Needless to say, the UFO budget was well spent by sending representatives to this conference, as much new information was learnt, & feedback has been both full & forthcoming. The report will undoubtedly be well worth a read, as it is due to contain some important new information, gathered from the various attending health-care professionals from around the country, as well as a piece on “Legal Highs”, which was also briefly covered at the conference.
